Anton Meixner lives in Berlin and has been a passionate cannabis grower since the mid-1990s. At a time when equipment and high-quality genetics were barely available in Germany, his search took him to Amsterdam early on: there he bought his first HPS lamp in a shop and imported cannabis seeds from Sensi Seeds. That era shaped his understanding of quality, stability and the differences between true classics and short-lived trends.

In the late 1990s, Anton regularly travelled to Amsterdam to obtain clones from the grow shops and clone dealers of the time, long before strains like Shiva, Power Plant, UK Cheese or Ice received broad commercial attention.

Roots in seed bank history

Anton is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to seed banks, their history and the development of classic breeding lines. He experienced the heyday of legendary names like Positronics (Wernard Bruning, also founder of the early coffeeshop “Yellow Mellow”) and knows many of the myths of the scene, including the stories you only truly understand if you lived through that era yourself.

He uses this historical knowledge to put modern genetics into perspective: what is substance, what is storytelling, and which cannabis seeds actually deliver reliable results in grow tents or outdoors?

Experienced grower with practical strain evaluation

For more than 30 years, Anton has completed countless indoor and outdoor grows, large and small. His focus is on stable, reproducible results and realistic assessments: genetics must work in everyday practice, not just on paper.

While he appreciates modern Cali strains for certain genuinely exciting terpene profiles, he often sees the hype as overblown. He is especially critical of pheno hunting: instead of endlessly chasing that “one” phenotype, he prefers strains that perform reliably, especially for tent grows and predictable harvests.

Philosophy & personal preferences

Anton loves Dutch old-school strains for their reliability and is a fan of sensible hybridization, especially when it comes to strains that can be grown efficiently in a tent. For him, sativa landraces are often the best weed “on site”: not always the loudest aroma, but with an exceptionally clear and motivating effect.

In addition, Anton has travelled several times through the Rif mountains in Morocco and Central America, is interested in political developments surrounding cannabis and welcomes partial legalization in Germany, with the hope for a sensible long-term solution in Europe.
